Fr. Matthew Laird

Fr. Matthew Laird, a native of Sandwich, was assigned to St. Ann's Parish in June of 2024. His home parish growing up was Christ the King in Mashpee. He is a graduate of the inaugural class of Saint John Paul II High School in Hyannis (2011) and studied biology at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester (2015). After college studies, he worked two summers as a lab technician at Associates of Cape Cod, a marine biology corporation in the Falmouth Technology Park. Fr. Matt prepared for the priesthood at Saint John’s Seminary in Boston. He was ordained in June of 2022 at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Fall River. Since 2022, he has worked with the Brazilian Catholic community in the Diocese, coming to learn much of the language and culture. Fr. Matt is a saxophone player and a member of Vatican III, an all-priest jazz/funk band that has been playing together since 2013. His father, David, is a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Fall River.
